Application of Marine Biotechnology for the Development of Antifouling Coatings

Objective

The scientific and technological objectives of this research proposal are concerned Witil theinvestigation of the possible use of bio-active compounds from marine biological organisms for thedevelopment of effective and durable anti-fouling coatings of minimal toxicity and environmentalimpact. This type of coating does not exist todayResearch is required to identify bioactive natural compounds from marine sources: compile adatabase of ail known antifouling agents and their relative efficacies: develop a reliable and rapidevaluation method for potential antifouling compounds: optimise the incorporation of the activeingredients into the substrate coating: and analyse harvesting and production methods. The research fits Area C(l)4: Exploitation of marine biological resources other than fisheriesand aquaculture. i.e. verification of the application potential of bio-active substances formarineengineering. e.g. anti-fouling.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
