Objective The aim of this research project is to develop a scanning method, based on georadar measurements and specific analysing and imaging software, which will be able to deliver integral information on waterdepth, sludge layers, objects and solid bottom geology. Surveying is now still based (95 %) on drilling & sampling which is expensive and limited out of economical reason. Therefore it does often not deliver adequate information. The information is needed for maintenance of wateways (lakes, deltas), planning bufferzone's for excess waterflows and foremostly the environmental problem of contaminated sludge. Contaminated sludge is a European wide problem and a danger to the coastal ecology system and the health of consumers through drinking water and recreational activities.
