Demonstration of a Seabed Enabling System for Processing Subsea Hydrocarbons

Objective

To design, manufacture, deploy and test an all-electric, driverless, modular, seabed oil/gas processing system near and connected to a live oil well. The objective is to demonstrate the advantages of this modular system by means of a driverless installation, commissioning, operation, reconfiguration and retrieval. It is of paramount importance to have an offshore application in order to convince the oil industry, which is technologically conservative, of the advantages in terms of increased production and ease of use. The trial will include seabed oil/gas separation and the use of simple pumping. It is essential to demonstrate the advantages of the all-electric, modular system, especially that processing modules can be installed, operated and retrieved in offshore environment. Retrieval enables maintenance or reconfiguration work (in response to field changes) to be undertaken.
