Objective
The objective of the project is the dissemination of results achieved in a previous project regarding the introduction of stochastic models in the phases of Reservoir Description and Characterisation.
A demonstration was conducted in Lisbon for representatives of a Romanian organisation. The interest demonstrated was high but the lack of exposition to western technology and the economic stress they are experiencing in eastern countries doe not allow for much optimism.
Given the very good relations of Partex with Middle East oil producing countries, more interesting presentations were given to Qatar General Petroleum Corporation (QGPC) in Doha, Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) in Muscat and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) in Abu Dhabi.
A workshop is planned to be held in Luanda (Angola) where the system will be presented and discussed with local authorities and representatives from other oil and gas companies from neighbouring countries in Africa.
The innovative techniques used lead to a better knowledge of reservoirs internal architecture which is a key aspect for the optimization of oil production and recovery and the minimization of drilling costs.
Main features from various areas of research include the application of Multivariate Data Analysis to the zonation building more refined layering models, improvements of Geometrical modelling through the use of Transitive Kriging of indicator variables.
Furthermore, the development of geostatitical procedures able to convey geological information into quantitative models, a special approach to permeability prediction and the quantification of the uncertainties on the calculation of reserves are key elements for the proper planning and field development in particular for EOR methods.
The simulation of the spatial distribution of reservoir heterogeneities honouring experimental data have positive consequences for the drilling optimization and enables more efficient appraisal ofEOR projects.
As a dissemination project there are two major areas of work: technical work related to the appraisal, improvement and the generalization of the prototype and market-oriented activities where demonstrations, documentation and additional runs using different reservoir data sets are some aspects deserving special care.
The project is split into five phases :
I. Appraisal of Reservoir Description Models and Generalization of the software
II. Interfacing with representative fluids flow simulators
III. Supporting documentation
IV. Additional runs
V. Demonstrations.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.
