QUADRUPLE COMPLETION

Objective

To demonstrate the technical and economic viability of a multiple completion to operate a gas reservoir constituted of about sixty superposed low production potential layers. This multiple completion will permit to select at will, separately or simultaneously the producing zones. Such a completion will permit, while removing all problems linked to the interferences between very heterogeneous zones, to operate in optimum conditions the reserves of the "multislices" reservoirs.
San Marco 2 well was completed as quadruple on April 1992, in 9" 5/8 cased hole; only the two upper casing joints are 10" 3/4 due to clearance problems in the tubing hanger area.
The 12 levels are between 1993 and 2308 m, each isolated by packer.
The well is "S" shape with max angle 17 deg. at 512 m.
The 4 production strings are size 2" 3/8-N80-4.6
and are connected to the casing, by an anchor at the bottom.
Above the anchor 11 inflatable packers are set.
The top packer is hydraulic, retrievable, with bidirectional slips.
Two Sliding Side Door (SSD) are installed on two opposite strings in front of each level.
The project will consist in realizing, installing and testing a quadruple completion composed of the following key-elements :
- a multibores solid block wellbore and xmass tree assembly, whose function is to collect the production of the four production tubings hung in the tubing hanger.
- a unique production casing linking the reservoirs to the wellhead.
- a succession of zone isolation modulus, piled up and integrated in the completion.
- two multibores inflatable packers, per zone isolation modulus.
- circulating valves inserted between the inflatable packers will permit at will, the communication between the zone delimited by two packers and the production tubings.
- a multiple connection will ensure the linkage between the production tubings and the inflatable packers.
- two special packers, installed one at the top and one at the bottom of the completion.
A 2500 m depth well will be drilled for this purpose into the gas reservoir of San Marco localized in the Marches area inItaly.
The project will consist in the 5 running stages :
PHASE 1 : detailed engineering of the completion components
PHASE 2 : completion construction
PHASE 3 : well drilling (this phase is not being supported)
PHASE 4 : completion installation
PHASE 5 : completion long duration tests.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
