TRAINING NEEDS ANALYSIS IN THE RAILWAY SECTOR AND DEVELOPMENT OF A METHODOLOGY FOR THE PLANNING AND THE MANAGEMENT OF TRAINING

Objective

To identify the key/core qualifications required in the railway sector and the competencies to be acquired by the workers in order to cope with the drammatic technological and organisational changes taking place. These changes are actually originating a global restructuring process both in enterprises and in individual workers' careers. The project will also lead to the design of a new, consistant, methodology for the planning and organisation of training.

MAIN DOMAIN OF INNOVATION:

Innovative training needs analysis with a special focus on core/key qualifications. The study is approaching the railway sector as a whole.

TARGET GROUP(S):

People at work. The project is addressed to all the workers of the Portuguese Railway and of the Lisboa Subway.

OPERATING CONTEXT:

Raising qualifications. Industrial restructuring. Economic regeneration.

TECHNOLOGY:

Information and communication technologies. Energy. Environmental related technologies.

INVOLVEMENT WITH ENTERPRISES:

Training institute-enterprise cooperation. Partnership between large enterprises and SMEs.

INVOLVEMENT OF SOCIAL PARTNERS:

Tripartite structures.

RESULTS:

Transferable models and concepts. Training programmes/courses for advanced technologies. Information materials. Innovative approaches for monitoring changes in occupational profiles.
