Action for Innovation Management Techniques in Smaller Firms

Objective

The contractors will develop, test, modify and disseminate a set of Innovation Management Techniques (IMTs) applicable to a wide range of SMEs. The emphasis throughout will be on practically applicable tools which can be used by SMEs with or without external facilitation.

The sub-title of ANIMATE is "the Step-ladder approach to Innovation Action(TM) Management". A range of tools will emerge that can be of help to SMEs in various stages of development - from the least innovative companies in traditional sectors through to "high -tech" SMEs. The idea is then to encourage the SME to move up to the next rung of the "ladder of innovation" by focusing on the symptoms and features displayed (and the benefits achieved) by other SMEs on that higher rung.
The approach will accommodate SMEs of all types from the least innovative to the most innovative and derive an Action Plan and Recommendations that will be realistic for each in their particular circumstances.
Oxford Innovation will produce two new compilations of Innovation Management Techniques, the Innovation Action(TM) Marketing Tool-Kit and the Innovation Action(TM) Project Management Tool-Kit, which will be based on the experiences of this project.
It is estimated that 90 assignments will be carried out in total by a group of 20 specially trained consultants.
