Objective
The main objective of the present proposal is to prepare a Combined R&D and Demonstration Project for the development of a new mesh gauge. This new mesh gauge should allow more reliable and objective mesh measurements than the present official EU wedge gauge used for inspection purposes.
The specific objectives of the proposal can be formulated as:
1) to seek partners (SMEs/instrument makers) for the development, construction and commercialisation of a new mesh gauge,
2) discuss with these partners possible solutions for exerting a stable measuring force with the new gauge,
3) to investigate the legal aspects of mesh size measurements for inspection purposes,
4) to prepare and write a proposal for a Combined R&D and demonstration project for the development proper of a new mesh gauge.
The proposal contributes to the improvement of tools and techniques for the implementation of the monitoring and enforcement of fisheries regulations. Description of the work (maximum 2000 characters).
