New species. new technologies. a European and international aquaculture scientific conference and workshop

Objective

The improvement of aquaculture production - a stated objective under key action 5.1.2 of The Quality of Life Programme- may be initiated from the top down or the bottom up. One of the keys to success in achieving this objective will be coordinated scientific research, resulting from forums such as Aquaculture Europe 2001.

The principal aim of the conference is to identify the key scientific aspects of species and technological diversification and sustainable development. The fields of production of new aquaculture species (controlling reproduction, juvenile production on-growing, finished product quality) and of new rearing technology (offshore, inshore and recirculating systems), of better waste management, and socio-economic aspects will be the particular focus of this conference. The conference format will not differ from "Aquaculture Europe', events previously co-organised by EAS.
