Objective
Knowledge of the biology of many fishes remains inadequate for either evaluation of potential environmental impacts on aquatic ecosystems or for effective management of the natural or commercial production of these fisheries. Information on early life stages is especially weak. WC 2002 (Bergen, Norway, 22~26 July 2002) seeks to disseminate new information on all aspects of fish early life history. Speakers and chairpersons of international repute will be invited to generate a high-profile conference. Participation of students and young scientists will be encouraged and facilitated.
The subject-matter of WC 2002 is closely related to Key Actions of the Fifth Framework Programme. Selected presentations will be published in a rigorously-edited and peer-reviewed book to be widely distributed at a nominal cost. This book will be an important reference work for students, educators and policy makers.
