Behavioural, neuronal, and molecular events involved in learned blink responses.

Objective

The expertise acquired by the applicant in both tissue culture (explants in collagen matrices, organotypic cultures) and histological methods (in site hybridisation, immuno cytochemistry) during his postdoctoral stay in Paris, as well as his previously achieved skills in electro physiology, will be of great help for the host group in order to conduct research for this project. Concerning the project itself, and although the methods that will be used for it are currently employed by scientists working on regeneration and functional repair of the injured nervous tissue, we cannot predict immediate clinical application. In any case, every major contribution which could helps to understand motor learning and behaviour could be, directly or indirectly, but successfully put to use in humans.
