European forum for cancer research management (ECRM)

Objective

Despite increasing expenditure on cancer research worldwide this disease is a major and increasing cause of human morbidity and mortality. Although significant European funding has been directed at cancer through the 5th Framework programme Community research in this area remains mostly at National level. In order to try and transcend National boundaries a recent Forum of cancer research managers was created in an attempt to address this issue and create a more coherent trans-European cancer research network. This proposal is aimed at obtaining support to take forward the enthusiasm and ideas of the Forum through the creation of a dedicated web site, a comprehensive survey of European cancer research facilities, networks and programmes, dedicated workshops and a communication programme with the public and research community.
