Functional analysis of the relationship between the transcriptome and proteome in arabidopsis and saccharomyces cerevisiae

Objective

The training provided during this project will develop cutting-edge expertise in a broad range of multi-disciplinary techniques applicable to any biological problem or organism like functional genomics using the post-genomic technologies of high density cDNA array analysis and proteomic analysis . Experience will be gained in handling of arrays, preparation of monosome and polysome mRNA fractions, 2-D gel analysis, employment of robot spot pickers and use of imaging software A key aspect of the training will be in interpretation and handling of large biological data sets, understanding of the bioinformatic side of molecular data analysis and solving problems from first principles. This project will fit into the "safety of novel foods" programme at IFR, which is investigating the link between gene expression at the level of mRNA accumulation and eventual protein synthesis and the modification of this relationship by metabolism.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: https://op.europa.eu/en/web/eu-vocabularies/euroscivoc.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
