8th European symposium on drosophila neurobiology-NEUROFLY2000 San Juan (Alicante), Spain

Objective

The rapid progress on Neuroscience depends on the choice and proper use of suitable experimental models where to address relevant questions. Following the success of Drosophila as a model in Development, neuroscientists are turning to this system and its use is yielding major contributions in recent years. This proposal is for the organisation of this 8th European Symposiurn on Drosophila Neurobiology (Neurofly2000).

This meeting is timely because the completion of the Drosophila Genome Project this year will provide the information linking the sequence to physical and genetic maps as well as gene predictions. This event, in conjunction with new technological developments in this:field, will open an unprecedented range of possibilities for Neuroscience research that deserves to be discussed in order to design suitable strategies to approach relevant neurobiological and related biomedical problems.
