Speech perception development in early infancy: behavioural, neural-modelling and brain-imaging data

Objective

The main goal of the present proposal is twofold: first, the activity involves the revision of the late research achievements in infant speech perception and initial language acquisition domains, and, second, it involves the organisation of a workshop that will bring together qualified researchers to discuss the relative contribution of genetic and environmental aspects to speech perception and early language development. The comparison between different methodologies and the integration of data from behavioural, neural-modelling and non-invasive brain imaging studies will also be addressed. For European researchers/laboratories the workshop is intended to foster collaborative research in the near future, with an emphasis on what represents a clear European dimension: language acquisition in multilingual societies.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)
