Brain energy metabolism and neurotransmission: function and dysfunction

Objective

This is an application to ask for support towards the cost of holding the world's 5th "Brain Energy" research meeting in Trondheim, without which it is unlikely to proceed either in Trondheim, or on the scale proposed. Funding would enable the Brain energy metabolism meeting to go ahead in Europe (as hoped), and enable young European researchers to take part in the conference by reducing the costs. Some funding will be used to defray the expense of promising young researchers from S. Europe and remote island regions attending the meeting. If support can be found it is hoped that 100 delegates will attend, of which 70% would come from Europe. Brain energy metabolism is a rapidly developing field of research where the application of new technological developments such as MR spectroscopy and functional imaging give us new insights furthermore this is a high priority neuroscience field. This conference is a forum for the advancement of understanding brain function in terms of metabolism.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.
