A study of intellectual property rights in fp5 projects

Objective

The purpose of this project is to analyse the intellectual property (imp) rights and obligations of the parties in FP5 projects with an industry member, and to understand the views of both academic and industrial members, in order to improve the position for future projects, primarily FP6 projects. This will be done through a combination of analysing project documentation and reports, postal questionnaires, and face-to-face interviews. The project will deliver guidelines/recommendations for dealing with imp issues in large EU-funded collaborations. This will allow new project members, both academic and industrial, to understand the range of imp rights available within EU-funded projects, and the principles behind them; and therefore for members more easily to reach acceptable agreement on imp arising out of their projects, based on both their respective imp resources and objectives.
