Objective
A series of workshops on the molecular life sciences is planned for secondary school teachers in the EU Member States and Israel. 12 teachers workshops in this initial project will be held at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg (D), its outstations in Hamburg (D) and Hinton (UK), and at the Centro National de Biotechnologies, CSIC, Madrid (E), the Technical University, Copenhagen (DK), and the Belmont Laboratories, Jerusalem (IL) over two years: 6 at each location during Sprung-Summer 2003 and 6 during Spring-Summer 2004. Teachers from each of the regions of Europe and Israel will participate. The European Molecular Biology Organisation (EMBO) will be the co-ordinator, and together with the European Federation of Biotechnology (EFB), will manage the project as co-principal contractors in collaboration with the 6 locations. The latter will organise the workshops under sub-contract, building on the experience
