Food foresight: a comprehensive view of the development patterns of the food industry in europe

Objective

A technology foresight exercise will be performed, with the specific objective of identifying innovative solutions to the food research/markets paradox. This will enable trans-sartorial knowledge transfer, based on the application of the general patterns of evolution to the specific case of the food industry. To achieve this objective, we characterise the status with novel tools used by systematic innovation in other industrial sectors, identify hurdles and solutions from the body of knowledge of world industrial development, and translate the results into specific initiatives that can accelerate the path of development of the European Food Industry and markets. The work will involve a multinational work team and a steering group comprising senior experts from academia and industry and will also review cutting edge techniques in USA and Japan with potential to foster customer-oriented food innovation.
