Objective
The aim of the project is to dower the community with innovative analytical procedures to accurately identify and quantify active principles present in herbal products and in officinal plants witch have been recently more and more used as natural alternative pharmaceutics-cal products and as human food. The regulation of quality and selling of these products is a topic in the "White paper on food safety", pre-pared by the European Union (EU) with the aim to preserve the human health (Brussels, January 12th 2000 COM (1999) 719 final). At present, the most part of the chemical methods of analysis of active principles suggested by the international pharmacopoeias results inadequate to an accurate chemical analysis and to the "White paper on food" re-quietens.
