Perinatal nutrition and its later consequences: new opportunities

Objective

- PIANO will be an International Conference held as a satellite meeting to the European Nutrition Congress to be held in ROME in October 2003 - PIANO will be organised on behalf of three FP5 shared costs projects: the 'Infant Nutrition Cluster' PIANO will allow collaboration between the projects in this Cluster such that results and expertise can be exchanged between partners. - PIANO will particularly focus on activities to ensure participation of scientists in Central and Eastern Europe, young researchers and participation of Sees. - PIANO will ensure that the achievements of the Infant Nutrition Cluster are greater than the achievements of the individual projects and will guarantee that the information and expertise is shared far beyond the boundaries of the Cluster partners. PIANO will start an ongoing debate, and will be a resource to assist policy makers in strategic planning. - PIANO will lay the vital groundwork for positioning research on prenatal nutrition within the European Research Area and the EU Framework 6 programme and will identify potential networks of excellence and large integrated projects.
