Anti-neoplastic immunity by vaccination with tnf-a- coupled tumor apoptotic cells

Objective

During my thesis work, I concentrated on the constrains regulating T cell activation by specialized antigen (Ag)-presenting B and dendritic cells. In this project I will use modified apoptotic cells as vaccines, to achieve optimal Ag presentation against tumors. The project will therefore provide the opportunity to apply my basic immunologic background on Ag presentation to the study of the tumor- host interaction system. Dr. Manfredi's lab. is well suited, since it has been actively involved in the study of apoptosis and tumor Ag. It will therefore complement my expertise on confocal microscopy and mouse Ag presenting cells. I will acquire, in a project at the interface between fundamental and clinical immunology, sound experience on the logic and the experimental approaches necessary to study apoptosis and tumor immunology, and I am confident that the lab. will benefit from my experience in Ag presentation, allowing to gain insight on the crucial biological question we are asking.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
