Objective
The overall aim of this project is the development of multi-sequence DNA sensor arrays for the identification of multi-drug resistant (MDR) strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The methodologies developed will allow assessment from clinical samples within hours, in comparison to the laborious and time-consuming methods presently in use. The use of a4 x 4 final configuration sensor arrays, allows for the development of a disposable, rapid, simple and one-step measurement system. Other potential product developed during the project will include a novel DNA release protocol from Mycobacterium, a PCR-Elsa based assay for assessment of clinical samples and a hand-held instrument for sensor array readout.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
