Novel approaches for the control of fungal disease

Objective

The rapid rise in fungal infections represents an important socio-economic challenge for the Esther development of more effective ant fungal therapies independent upon an increased understanding of fungal virulence. This Consortium will focus on Candid albicans, the major fungal pathogen in humans. We will exploit the latest molecular and genomic technologies to generate the most comprehensive and integrated database on Candid virulence to date.Candida gene arrays will be used to monitor global responses to developmental changes, environmental stimuli and contact with host tissues. This will be combined with a novel screen to identify new host-fungus interactions as well as the molecular dissection of key fungal virulence factors: yeast-hyphen morph genesis, cell wall, phenotypic switching and secreted hydrolases. Our findings will be used to improve ant fungal therapies, and will be made public via our new relational Candid genomic database.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
