Workshop / training courses on vaccine quality control with three rs methods (VAC-TRAIN)

Objective

The AM will provide first-hand education and training in methods, which will replace, reduce or refine (Three Rest methods) the use of laboratory animals for the quality control of human and veterinary vaccines. Within the framework of one workshop and five training courses, participants will be informed and instructed by named experts from competent authorities, Official Medicines Control Laboratories, vaccine manufacturers and European Pharmacopoeia on new approaches and concepts in vaccine quality control. General aspects (e.g. legal and ethical background, validation, implementation) of Three Rest methods will be addressed in the workshop, whereas participants in the training courses will be instructed in the use of serological, molecular biological, physic-chemical and in vitro functional methods for the potency and safety testing of diphtheria, peruses, clostridia, rabies, erysipelas and avian vaccines as well as humane endpoints.
