Objective
To plan, organise and stage an international workshop on neonatal immunity and maternal infection during pregnancy where 40-60 participants, including 15 bursars and 10-15 invited speakers will attend and participate to the workshop. To report the workshop proceedings, to analyse the evaluation sheets on the workshop, and to elaborate a review and report for publication, and submission of report to the EU. The results of the workshop will be, to update and improve our understanding on the interaction of an infectious environment with the prenatal immune system and to open new avenues/approaches to reduce infection exposure and prevention of unwanted immune interaction during pregnancy, and very important, new prospects of approaching the early life span as an window of opportunity for vaccination and intervention strategies against viral, bacterial and parasitic diseases.
