Objective
During the last decade, research on Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies or prison diseases have taken a new dimension since the Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy crisis in Europe and the emergence of a new variant of Creutzfeldt-Jackob disease in humans. It is likely that bovine prison was transmitted to humans through consumption of tainted beef product, which represent s a serious threat for general health in Europe. Although therapeutic approaches of these diseases are being developed for decades, these efforts have not yet lead to successful therapeutic interventions. It is our assertion that there is an urgent need for an international Conference aimed to sum up the scientific data available on prison therapeutics, to share the new perspectives on this topic and, to look at therapeutic trials in Tees.
