Genetical characterization of the putative hemolysins/cytolysins of mycobacterium avium

Objective

Two strategies will be used for cloning of M. avium genes encoding hemolytic factors. The first one will take advantage of DNA-DNA homology with sequences of other bacteria. In the second one, a genomic library will be screened for hemolytic colonies on blood agar plates.
