Objective
The overall objective of the CBD-HYBRIDS project is the development of biotechnological tools to modify cellulose fibres. This will be achieved by combining Cellulose Binding Domains (Cads), naturally present in celluloses, with new catalytic domains (lactase, pettiness or lipase) or other functional proteins/polypeptides (e.g. hydrophobic or chemically reactive). The structure-function characteristics of the novel CBD-HYBRIDS will be studied, with emphasis on the interaction between the novel proteins and the cellulose fibre surface. Application trials, by research and industrial partners, will evaluate the potential of the novel biotechnological tools for application in pulp, paper and textile processes, such as bio bleaching, biodeinking, bio scouring and fibre modification, to reach more sound, coefficient processes and higher product quality.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
