Objective
Signalling cascades play multiple roles in cell growth, differentiation and death. Their perturbation has profound consequences linked to diseases such as cancer, myopathy and diabetes, major health concerns in Europe. We propose to develop and implement nana technologies, which allow monitoring and examination of intracellular signalling processes in real time at the single cell level. Ourgoals are to create detailed molecular maps of the temporal and spatial organization of proteins involved in signal transudation, in particular insulinsignaling. With this information we can compare diseased and normal tissue to identify specific errors in signalling cascades. Moreover, we can directly development-animal based assays for use in drug discovery. Once established this Nan technology can be extended to the analysis of diverse signalling cassettes in variety of other diseases of high social and economic impact in Europe.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
