Objectif
The overall aim of the programme is to investigate the methods of Nan fabrication most appropriate for use innanobiotechnology especially in relation to the biomedical industry. The programme links nine University research groups and five Sees active in the medical device industry. In particular we aim to investigate the reactions of cells to polymer and other surfaces bearing Nan topography or/and Nan patterned chemistry. Five different methods of Nan fabrication will be used. The reactions of tissue and blood cells and bacteria to these surfaces will be tested. We shall also examine the biocompatibility status of these materials afternanofabrication. The research is applicable to the production of better devices for handling blood and other body fluids, the prevention of bacterial adhesion to catheters and other devices, the production of improved biomaterials materials for tissue engineering and wound healing.
