Objective
Cell engineering is developing rapidly as an exciting and enterprising field in biotechnology. Its emergence reflects the need to produce complex proteins for use as therapeutics to a very high degree of fidelity and has been facilitated by rapid progress in molecular biology, molecular genetics and bioengineering. Further stimulus has come from exciting developments in tissue engineering, which offer tremendous potential for the development of replacement tissue and even whole organs. Integrating the advances in molecular biology into bioprocesses presents a continuous challenge to scientists and engineers in this field. This workshop is conceived to help us meet this challenge.
