Lactic acid bacteria in Europe: bridging the gap between research and applications in the new century

Objective

This proposal seeks support for a conference on lactic acid bacteria (LAB). The conference is expected to attract between 150 and 200 delegates and is intended to present state-of-the art research on LAB, as well as issues relating to the exploitation and dissemination of European LAB research.

The conference will act as a platform for information exchange, and as such will provide an opportunity for researchers and representatives from the food fermentation industry to discuss their research results, to outline novel research directions and to initiate new collaborations, and it will provide young researchers with a forum to exhibit their achievements and to establish contacts. The proceedings of the conference will be published through a book of abstracts which will also become available through a dedicated website on the internet.
