Evaluation of the technical, commercial and patent issues regarding the use of human albumin micro-capsules containing iron oxides for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)

Objective

Research and development of a new microcapsule contrast agent with unique properties for MRI of both, the blood pool and internal organs. This dual agent approach allows patients to receive quicker and more convenient diagnosis, earlier disease detection and significantly reduces health care spending. The current problem relates to multiple and cost-& time intensive diagnosis - intended to be reduced to a 'one step diagnosis' by this new technology. Within the Craft project (step 2) we expect to develop a contrast agent suitable for the initial stages of clinical testing. Expertise and know-how of the Imaging market is available within the SME consortium. A suitable company (RTD performer) with the required know-how of the microcapsule spray dry technology is already identified.
