Objective
This project aims at:
1) The realisation of sensitive and stable biosensors based on isolated photo system II (PSII) for the detection of herbicides and heavy metal.
2) By screening of a large number of photosynthetic organisms and genetic engineering, production of PSII bio mediators able to distinguish the various subclasses of herbicides and heavy metals.
3) Realisation of new-sophisticated transudation systems based on printed electrodes chemiluminescences and fluorescence as well as alternative systems.
4) Development of miniaturised ("smart") biosensor prototypes and special software to monitor the information deriving from the mutated PSII bio mediators.
5) Practical on site application of the biosensors in a mobile unit for environmental screening under real operational conditions, i.e. leak-water from land fills and ground/river waters.
6) Contribution toward spins offs and commercialisation.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal
Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.

Coordinator
The total costs incurred by this organisation to participate in the project, including direct and indirect costs. This amount is a subset of the overall project budget.
