Objective
The project will identify measurement-related barriers to exploiting emerging technology in three key areas of biotechnology and propose options to overcome them through pre-normative research. Priority areas will be those where lack of measurement capability may delay safe and confident exploitation of these new technologies.
The project involves preparatory work, a survey, two workshops, analysis and formulation of recommendations. Partners from the UK, Portugal and the JRC as well as the involvement of CEN will ensure active participation from both the user and supplier communities across Europe.
Outputs include barriers to take-up that could be addressed through LIFE Programme research topics, including medium term structural issues and shorter term projects. The measure will propose mechanisms to overcome any structural barriers between end users, standards makers and the research community.
