Objective
Coeliac disease (CD) is gluten induced naturopathic inflammatory disease of the upper small intestine. The prevalence of CD was beloved be 1 in 300, but recent evidence suggests there are more undiagnosethan diagnosed cases, with diagnosis being complicated by non-specific symptoms coupled with expensive and non-routine methods of diagnosis. This Project aims to develop a disposable integrated micro system com-posed of discrete biosensor modules that will:
a) asses the susceptibility of an individual to CD by screening for the associated Lab
b) by exploit and-and enzyme sensor technology to provide screening tool for diagnosis of CD and
c) facilitate monitoring of the disease in response to a gluten free diet. The discrete modules proposed can also be utilised as individual disposable units to enabled sufferers to self monitor their disease state in response to their diet.
