Novel surfaces for switchable nucleic acids adsorption/ desorption for analytical assays

Objective

This proposal aims to provide platform technology for the rapid extraction and purification of genetic material (DNA and RNA) from any kind of sample (medical and environmental). End user applications cover all fields in which the analysis of genetic material is important, involving several key actions in various thematic programmes. The technology to be developed is based on novel organic dendrite functionalised surfaces switch able from an adsorbing state during the extraction phase to a desorbing state during the elution phase. The design of the dendrites is directed by rigorous chemical-chemical analysis of data on molecular-level interactions, mechanisms and relevant parameters obtained via in site evanescent wave monitoring of the functionalised surfaces during NA binding. Surfaces maximizing recovery rates will be incorporated in high-throughput automated instrumentation for NA recovery.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
