Objective
The recent achievements in the field of stem cell plasticity and their possible therapeutic application created a need to establish scientific medically oriented centres, which will focus on stem cell biology and their application in the clinic. This research requires high quality professional experience, expensive equipment and established procedures. The goal of our project is to create The STEM CELL EXCELLENCE CENTRE (STEC) which will bring together researchers from the Jagiellonian University Medical College in Krakow and several polish and outstanding EU research medical centres from D, F, UK, NL, A and DK. STEC will create networking, integrate polish scientists with their colleagues in EU, attract young researchers/clinicians to this new research filed and lead to the development of stem cell-based therapeutic strategies. Cooperation initiated by the 5EC FP Sol project would enable STEC to participate in a 6 EC FP in the future.
