Treasures from the sea - a 52-minute international tv-documentary/ video for educational purposes and web site about marine bioprospecting

Objective

TREATS are a packet of
a) a TV documentary/video for the general public,
b) a multimedia web-site, both about marine bio prospecting. The documentary will tell the story about the search for new drugs in marine organisms. This will be done through reports from research projects in Europe, USA and the Philippines, covering different aspects of the field, weaved into one story. The aim is to create interest among the broad public, especially young people. Videos and a teachers' guide will be distributed and made freely available to educational inst. within EU. The web site will give additional information, especial lee for in depth exploring in education, and for those who might think of this as a career. Both media products will be produced at the University Media Centre in Bergen and produced in all 11 EU languages + Norwegian. The work will be done in cooperation with leading international scientists in the field.
