Objective
The main objective of this workshop is to provide and disseminate improved information on aquaculture and its relationship with other coastal resource users to help producers, stakeholders, policy makers, planners, researchers and managers in developing best ICZM practice for the aquaculture industry, through a trans-disciplinary approach. To aid the debate the past, current and future status of coastal aquaculture will be discussed.
A second objective is to develop stronger interdisciplinary communication between the natural and social sciences and to improve the utility of available scientific information and knowledge to all players. one approach will be to promote aquaculture as a sustainable food production industry.
A third objective is to promote new perspectives on sustainable uses of coastal areas and their natural resources by means of improving collaborative coastal aquaculture research and improved production of existing and new species.
