Objective
The objective of the Craft project, which is planned. Is to develop a cheap, 100% biodegradable, multiplayer material useful to produce one use packaging. The main project objectives are focused on finding an environmentally friendly and economically viable solution for the management of plastic packaging waste, both production and post-consume waste, through the complete biodegradation of thematerial. To develop the new packaging sheet, we will use biodegradable polymers already in the market (with foodstuff contact approval), with the aim that the final product could have a competitive cost compare with those materials it intends to replace. This material will combine the properties of hydrophilic and hydrophobic biopolymers, in order to obtain a "tailor made packaging sheet" adapted to the needs of the products we intend to package. There are economic biopolymers available in the market, but with limited properties if one intends to use them for packaging, on the other hand there are expensive ones with excellent properties for this application. The use ofcoextrusion technology (very well developed for traditional polymers), adapted to these materials could allow the combination of the best properties of each one to obtain an economic and high profile packaging material. We have carried on an innovation pre-checking (during STEP 1 we will make a deep search) ...
