Optimisation of screening and cleaning technology to control deinking pulp cleanliness

Objective

The project aims at improving the technology in paper recycling to solve critical "stickiest" problems related to adhesive entering the drinking process. The approach is to optimise the adhesive size and shape at the pulping step in order to remove them completely by pressure screening and centrifugal cleaning. The basic mechanisms of pulping and fundamentals of screening hydrodynamics including numerical flow simulation will be studied with respect to the theological properties of adhesives. New pulping, screening and cleaning technology will be developed. Flotation and a new pressure filtration technology will be studied to clean further the pulp and the process waters. Optimised strategies for the removal of stickiest in drinking lines and basic knowledge towards recycling friendly adhesives will be established.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
