Objective
Effective production of agricultural crops assumes the appropriate intake of plant nutrients through fertilizers. Common industrial fertilizers are the source of nitrogen pollution due to the low efficiency of nitrogen. The proposed project follows research works, which showed that nitrogen pollution could be reduced by bio stimulators, which are present in the bioprocess products such as molasses stillage. The project proposes developed the UNIFERT technology, which enables industrial preparation of new fertilizers with a biological component of the molasses spillage type. The project includes the development of these fertilizers based on the research into their nutrient efficiency and environmental effects of their use on the field. The project combines efforts of high level European research groups within the areas of biochemical engineering, environmental biotechnology as well asagrobiotechnology, and it involves the participation of three biochemical industries.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
