Development of an innovative system for automated poultry sex separation

Objective

Automated techniques for identifying the sex of chicks are not present on the market. In this project, a system will be developed which include an appropriate chick carrier, an optical system, and a PC based image recognition system. The "heart" of this proposed research project is the development of an expert image processing and image pattern recognition algorithm for the detection of chick sex. In recent years, there has been a significant amount of research on the development of improved methods for optical imaging. The developments made shall be adapted and applied by this project for the inspection of chick sex in poultry production.
