Promotion of the uptake of organic farming techniques through advanced vermicomposting technology and a scientific backup of its benefits and quality standards

Objective

'I’ve aim of the proposed project is to promote the use of vermicompost through advanced vermicomposting technologies and in conjunction with sound scientific backup of its benefits and quality standards. Improving and promoting the production of vermicompost, evaluating its benefits, defining quality standards and by helping farmers to take advantage of this bioorganic approach will achieve this. The public will benefit from greater recycling organic waste and from the agricultural benefits (e.g. plant nutrients and pest and disease suppression) of using vermicompost. Food quality will be enhanced and the EU will benefit from data gathered about potential improvements in soils that will make organic, sustainable farming more viable.
