Objective
Phytophthora blight of pepper is of great economical importance worldwide. For effective control resistant cultivars are needed. The aim of the proposal is to collect a set of morphologically and genetically distinguishable strains of P.capsici optimise a bioassay for breeding purposes and screening available breeding material. Subsequently, both countries will be able to breed varieties with commercially relevant levels of resistance as an alternative to chemical control.
