Minimally invasive surgery instruments (ophthalmic, neuro)

Objective

With the ageing population age-related illnesses and health problems will increase. Precise therapeutic intervention employing less invasievemethods that reduce trauma and shorten recovery time result in lower cost and less stress for the patient. Already in many surgical specialties, endoscopes techniques have replaced open procedures as the standard. Typical age related illnesses are illnesses of the eye and neurological illnesses. In both the areas of eye and neuron surgery good vision, adequate mice-manipulators and the co-ordination of vision with the instruments are important issues to be solved for the surgeon. The use of integrated or modular products may contribute to better treatment. The development of improved instruments and procedures is by means on sight yet. The proposal deals with the development of a new or improved class of products whereby flexible endoscopies is combined with micro instruments like forceps, scissors, diathermy, vitreous shavers, etc.
