Dynamically responsive intervention for tremor suppression (DRIFTS)

Objective

Most current orthodox aids for upper-limb tremor suppression inadequately address user requirements of performance, comfort, mobility, & aesthetics. An orthosisshould suppress tremor while preserving normal movement, be easily donned and removed, & be lightweight, flexible, & wearable under garments. We propose to develop a prototyping system for the integrated development, & comparative evaluation of candidate designs (using available components and technologies) forkinematic sensing, control, & active suppression of tremor. Viable designs for future prototype development will be selected with respect to quotients of clinical efficacy, user acceptance, & manufacturability. The project is to be performed by a multidisciplinary team possessing skills in biomechanical &rehabilitation engineering, sensors, clinical neurology, cybernetics, & materials.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.
