FUNCTIONAL EUROCAB COMPONENT VALIDATION ON THE MADRID-SEVILLA LINE

Objective

The objective of the EMSET project is to perform the preparatory activities conducive to a full-scale functional validation of the on-board European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) sub-system. Such validation includes the interoperability tests via several external STMs (Specific Transmission Modules) - with some main existing signalling systems used in Europe.

The project is organized in several tasks dealing with all the relevant aspects of the functional and interoperability test activities which are to be carried out both in laboratory and on the Madrid-Seville line.
The overall workplan consists of five main tasks as follows:
Step 1: Elaboration of the test plan and customization of the Users test specifications. Customization of the test track and rolling stock to be used for the tests.
Step 2: Development of the tools for the site tests and performance of the sub-system and system integration tests in laboratory
Step 3: Functional validation of the ERTMS on-board architecture on full-scale site tests for levels 1 and 2 in the emulation of radio.
Step 4: Development of tools (external STMs) for the interoperability test with the national existing systems.
Step 5: Performance of interoperability tests via external STMs connected to the on on-board prototypes with different national signalling systems and their evaluation.

Only the first three tasks are covered under this research contract subsequent tasks are to be included in an additional contract to be partly funded by the Trans European Network funds.
To fulfil the interoperability requirements for the High-Speed European Rail Network, according with the relevant Directive 96/48/EC.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
